BRANCHES organizes work intensives, residencies, and retreats for organizations wishing to critically explore, evaluate, and design alternative futures.

We design transformative spaces and services offering small teams the conditions and catalysts to:

• Develop and integrate new perspectives on a specific problem, question, or intent.
• Balance and oscillate between critical-contemplative and playful-creative modes of thinking.
• Cultivate greater wisdom, insight, and metacognition.
• Explore and discover new, emergent possibilities for design, tech, and systems.

Each project integrates ontological design, interdisciplinary research, and contemplative practices.

We take a comprehensive approach to designing each factor of a work container — environmental, experiential, epistemological, social, temporal — to invoke and cultivate qualities we believe are necessary to think through complex challenges in a new way. As Einstein recognized, “we cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”

Projects can be for days/weeks/months, tailoring methodology and degrees of support depending on need.
